American-Brazilian Oboist and Composer Harold Emert began his studies with Ronald Roseman, Lois Wann and Harold Gomberg (NY Philharmonic), graduating with a Bachelors of Arts degree from the Aaron Copland School of Music earning his Master’s degree. After playing with the American Symphony with Leopold Stokowski including as a soloist (Cimarosa Concerto) he took up positions with the South African Radio Broadcasting (SABC) Orchestra, solo English horn with the Israel Philharmonic with Zubin Mehta on tour of European festivals and Germany’s Saarbrucken Radio Orchestra. A resident of Rio de Janeiro since 1973, he has played with Brazil’s major orchestras. He has toured internationally as a recitalist and visited Pune in February 1986. He performed a solo oboe recital at Gulati Hall under the aegis of The Poona Music Society and has very fond memories of his visit and concert. In November 1987, he wrote an article in Musical America about his experiences in India and the selfless dedication of all the people behind music promotion in Bombay and Poona. When he visited our website and saw that we were presenting online concerts, he volunteered to send us this concert with guitarist Geremias Cruz recorded in Teresopolis in Brazil.
