The Widerkehr Trio was founded by Thomas Frey, Hubert Kerschbaumer and Matthias Kronsteiner during their studies at the Anton Bruckner University (Linz), being aimed at discovering and spreading the music for the unconventional instrumentation of flute, clarinet and bassoon. Soon their work was awarded at the Gradus ad Parnassum Competition. From 2008, Mathias Rüegg engaged the trio to be the new woodwind section of his world famous Vienna Art Orchestra. In 2012, Bernhard Zachhuber became a new member in the Widerkehr Trio.
