Camerata Instrumentale of the Bremen Music School, is an amateur symphony orchestra with about 70 members between the ages of 15 and 80. Teachers of the music school, pupils, students and amateur musicians of all occupational groups meet every week for rehearsals. Every year, they work on two programmes for their concerts in spring and autumn.
This year the orchestra will celebrate its 50th anniversary. At the German Amateur Orchestra Competition in 1986 in Würzburg they won the first prize, in 2000 in Karlsruhe a special prize for the interpretation of a contemporary piece (1st Symphony of A. Salm) and in 2012 in Hildesheim, they once again succeeded with Shostakovich’s 5th Symphony.
Jörg Assmann studied violin in Münster and Vienna. While still studying, he became a member of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra under Philippe Entremont. In 1987, he became section leader of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie. He was highly involved in the development of this orchestra to being one of the leading orchestras in the world. In 2005, he started to study conducting and in 2007, he became conductor of the Camerata Instrumentale. He further focuses on educational work: Chamber Music Workshops, instructions for Youth Orchestras and Violin teaching.
Karla-Manon Assmann began studying violin with her father and later on with his colleagues of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Beate Weis and Florian Donderer (Concertmaster). Making music with other young musicians has motivated her to become a professional musician. For many years, she was a member of Youth Symphony Orchestra Bremen and the Youth Orchestra of the federal state. Since 2011, she is studying Violin with Prof. Hans-Peter Hofmann at the University of Music Saar. She has participated in Masterclasses with Prof. Roman Nodel, Prof. E. Kufferath, Prof. E. Kovacic, Prof. C. Widmann and Prof. B. Schmid and on several occasions has been invited to projects of the Young German Philharmonic.
