EYM Trio is a band formed by the three musicians Elie Dufour, Yann Phayphet and Marc Michel, who met at the Academy of Lyon. They are influenced by the jazz legends such as Duke Ellington, Chick Correa, Michel Petrucciani and modern musicians and bands such as Avishaï Cohen, E.S.T. Joshua Redman etc.
In 2011, they performed at the Amphitheatre of the Opera of Lyon supported by Jérôme Regard. In 2012, they won many competitions like the Jazz(s)ra (Paris), Festival Mozaïque (le Havre), Festival Jazz en Scène (Marseille) and finished the year winning the competition of Jazz at Vannes. In 2013, they recorded their first album “Genesi” in Italy (Udine – Artesuono studios), having a very good review from the public and the press. They also performed at the Saint Fons Jazz festival, at the Altitude Jazz Festival and at Magic Mirrors. In 2014, they performed at the Festival “Fort en Jazz”.
2015 was an important year for the band, which performed at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and at the U-Percut in Marseille, a show streamed by the French radio “France Musique”. In October, they performed at the Salle des Gémeaux (Sceaux), Sunside (Paris), and later at the Padova Jazz Festival (Italy). This year, they are the prize-winners of the prestigious national competition of La Défense in Paris, the international competition of Getxo and the springboard festival of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The band will record their second album this year.
