DESCRIPTION:In a programme of Mozart: Adagio in B minor K 540\; Beethoven: 
 Sonata No. 27 in E minor Op. 90\; Bartók: Out of Doors Sz 81 and Brahms: 
 Sonata No. 3 in F minor Op. 5\n\nAndreas Haefliger was born into a disting
 uished Swiss musical family and grew up in Germany\, going on to study at 
 the Juilliard School in New York. With his formidable technique and musica
 lity\, and his innate sense of architecture and phrasing\, he is quickly r
 ecognised as a pianist of the first rank.\n\nHaefliger is much sought-afte
 r as a chamber musician\, and for his latest project gathers friends such 
 as Benjamin Schmid (violin) and Christian Poltera (cello) for concerts in 
 Copenhagen at the Louisiana Museum and at the prestigious Stiftskonzerte s
 eries in Austria where in 2015\, he also plays a duo recital with Ian Bost
 ridge. Over the years he has collaborated regularly with Matthias Goerne\,
  with whom in 2013\, he released Schubert songs on Harmonia Mundi in 2013 
 and performed at the Wigmore Hall\; also the Takacs Quartet\, with whom he
  most recently played at the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York\; and his 
 wife\, the distinguished flautist Marina Piccinini. After the enormous suc
 cess of his first recording of Mozart Sonatas for Sony Classical\, Haeflig
 er made three further recordings for Sony of Schumann’s Davidsbündlerta
 nze and Fantasiestücke\, Schubert Impromptus\, and a disc of music by Sof
 ia Gubaidulina.\n\n
