Anna Tanvir and Maninder Singh have recently formed a duo of harp, guitar and two voices.  They have arranged folk songs from around the world in six or seven different languages, in different rhythms and musical combinations to create a unique and original duo. They have been very wamly received by the Indian audience, recently receiving a standing ovation at Doon University. They will be performing at the prestigious Tansen Music Festival in Gwalior at the end of this year.

 Anna Tanvir is an exceptional singer of Indian/Irish origin.  She accompanies herself on the Celtic harp, performing all over the world in many different languages, combining a classical technique with a traditional sound. Her repertoire is a mix of traditional melodies and her own compositions reflecting her mixed cultural heritage and transcending the barriers of nation and language by recounting universally relevant stories of life and love.

Her notable past performances include: Un Été à Bourges, France (every year from 1998 to present); Mick Jagger’s private birthday party, Amboise 2010, France; Château de Chambord and Cathédrale de Bourges, 2010, France; Olympia, Paris as guest of Erick Manana 2009, France; Le Café de la Danse, Divan du monde, and New Morning, Paris; Virasat Festival Dehradun, and Amir Khan Samaroh, Indore; India International Centre, New Delhi; Akshara Theatre, New Delhi; Poona Music Society; Little Theatre, NCPA, Mumbai and GyanManch, Kolkata.

Maninder Singh is a bass player, guitarist and vocalist in many different musical genres. He is currently teaching World music at Kasiga School, Dehradun. His live performances include a duo with singer/harpist Anna Tanvir, performance with Edward Maya, a Live Fusion Workshop with Ustad Khalid Khan Sitar Maestro, performance with well-known bands such as The Ensemble and Corsair. He maintains an active varied schedule of live performances with many different acts; in recording studios, cafes, clubs, theaters, festivals, concert halls, schools and restaurants. Over the years, Maninder has developed a very good reputation as a reliable, talented and versatile bass player and an all-round musician. His other interests are developing and giving classes and clinics on a variety of music-related topics. His activities include extensive teaching, performing “Band Consultations”, hosting jams, and running “Band Foundries”. Conducting various school operas and choirs. He has recorded albums, demos, jingles at a wide variety of studios. He has had acquaintance with other instruments like guitar, bass, drums, djembe, cajon and voice. His interests are playing live music, travelling and passion for fusion cooking.
