Ishara Puppet Theatre, Director Dadi Pudumjee
Inspired by the words of legendary poet Rumi and Timothy Keller, Dadi Pudumjee and Ishara have created a production, which makes the young and old learn important values without preaching or nagging. Three clowns and a puppet wittily engage with each other and the audience, highlighting the strange and arrogant times we live in. The show cleverly weaves a medley of performances together on things we see all around us – from food to violence, to matrimonial columns to underprivileged children aspiring to go to school – to teach us the importance of tolerance, compassion and love. A veritable explosion of family fun, music and creativity; it’s a moving performance which will leave a smile on your face.
For 30 years, the Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust has captured imaginations with pioneering puppetry entertainment and storytelling for all ages. Established by DADI D. PUDUMJEE, one of India’s foremost and innovative puppeteers, the trust has brought many serious social issues to the forefront through their work. For his efforts Mr. Pudumjee has been bestowed with numerous accolades including the Padma Shri in 2011, and the Sangeet Natak Akademi award in 1993. He is at present, the President of UNIMA International (Union International de la Marionette), the world puppet organization.
