 olish jazz pianists and composers was born in Pińcz&oacute\;w (Poland) in
  1958. He graduated from The Academy of Music in Katowice (Poland) with di
 stinction.Dutkiewicz was a finalist of the Thelonious Monk Competition in 
 Washington\, USA. He was the first Polish musician who played solo recital
  at MIDEM in Cannes.He performed as a pianist and an actor also (muzitor) 
 in contemporary Instrumental Theatre (Gdynia\, Poland).Artur Dutkiewicz pr
 esents his own\, contemporary jazz mazurkas from his latest album Artur Du
 tkiewicz &ldquo\;Mazurkas&rdquo\;. &ldquo\;Mazurkas&rdquo\; are influenced
  by Chopin and Polish folk music\, combined with modern jazz improvisation
 . From Chopin&rsquo\;s music the inspiration was Polish mood and the melod
 y of mazurkas. The rhythm is evolved from piano jazz tradition.&nbsp\;In h
 is programme classical music\, Polish folk music and trance jazz improvisa
 tion are combined as one original whole. Artur Dutkiewicz&rsquo\;s project
  &ldquo\;Mazurkas&rdquo\; was granted a scholarship from The Polish Minist
 ry of Culture and National Heritage in 2009.The programme also includes et
 hno - jazz improvisations on songs from different cultures: Europe\, the M
 iddle and Far East.&nbsp\;
