Café Elektric (1928) is a silent film directed by Gustav Ucicky. Set in a café in Vienna, the film depicts Erni Göttlinger (Marlene Dietrich) the rich daughter of a construction entrepreneur (Fritz Alberti), who gets attracted to a pickpocket, Herr Fredl (Willi Forst). Herr Max Stöger (Igo Sym) is a young engineer who assists Herr Göttlinger, but he cannot focus on his work when a young lady (Anny Coty) is around. Meanwhile, Frau Hansi (Nina Vanna), an old friend of Herr Fredl, enjoys the Vienna night life, not quite in the same way as Frau Paula (Vera Salvotti).
Gerhard Gruber is an Austrian composer and a piano player. As accompanist for silent movies, he has become the leading authority in Austria since 1988. He has performed for about 450 different films in the USA, France, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India and of course in his native Austria.
