DESCRIPTION:In a programme of Clara Schumann: Romances\, Poulenc: Sonata\, 
 Brahms: Sonata No. 1 in G major\, Op. 76\, Ravel: Kaddish and Tzigane\n\nI
 n association with Mehli Mehta Music Foundation\n\nMidori is a visionary a
 rtist\, activist and educator who explores and builds connections between 
 music and the human experience. In the four decades since her debut with t
 he New York Philharmonic at age 11\, the “simply magical” (Houston Chr
 onicle) violinist has performed with many of the world’s most prestigiou
 s orchestras and has collaborated with world-renowned musicians including
  Leonard Bernstein\, Yo-Yo Ma\, and many others. Midori is the Artistic Di
 rector of Ravinia Steans Music Institute’s Piano &amp\; Strings program\
 ; summer 2024 is her first year in that role.\n\nThis season\, she premier
 es Spirituals — a new work written for her by Che Buford — on a reci
 tal program\, with pianist Özgür Aydin\, at the Edinburgh Festival\; the
  92nd Street Y\, New York\; the Celebrity Series of Boston\; San Francisco
  Performances\; and the Colburn Celebrity Series. Other highlights of Mido
 ri’s 2024–2025 season include appearances with the Boston Symphony Orc
 hestra\, Los Angeles Philharmonic\, Louisville Orchestra\, Seattle Symphon
 y\, and Oklahoma City Philharmonic.\n\nOutside the U.S.\, she performs wit
 h the Vienna Philharmonic under Andris Nelsons in Vienna and on tour in Ja
 pan and Korea (Prokofiev’s First Violin Concerto)\; she appears twice in
  the spring of 2025 at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall\, with the German Nati
 onal Youth Orchestra in May\, performing Glanert’s Second Violin Concert
 o\, and with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO) in June\, perf
 orming Dvořák’s Violin Concerto. She also joins the Orchestre de la Su
 isse Romande under Jonathan Nott\, performing Sibelius’s Violin Concerto
  on a tour of Spain\, and has concert appearances in Geneva\, Köln and N
 ürnberg\, as well as Mumbai\, Istanbul\, Izmir and Colombo.\n\nTurkish - 
 American pianist Özgür Aydin made his major concerto debut in 1997 in a 
 performance of Brahms’ Piano Concerto No.1 with the Bavarian Radio Symph
 ony Orchestra. In the same year\, he won the renowned ARD International Mu
 sic Competition in Munich and the Nippon Music Award in Tokyo – recognit
 ion that has since served as the basis for an active and diverse internati
 onal performing career. He is also a laureate of the Cleveland Internation
 al Piano Competition.\n\nMr. Aydin has appeared as soloist with numerous o
 rchestras in Germany and Turkey\, as well as with the BBC Concert Orchestr
 a London\, the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela\, Slovak State P
 hilharmonic and Canada’s Calgary Philharmonic. Frequently invited to sum
 mer music festivals\, he has appeared at Salzburg\, Schleswig-Holstein\, R
 heingau\, Ravinia and Edinburgh. He is a guest at many prestigious venues 
 including New York’s Carnegie Hall\, London’s Wigmore Hall\, Munich’
 s Herkulessaal and Tokyo’s Suntory Hall. Mr. Aydin has made recordings o
 f solo piano works by Beethoven\, Schumann\, Chopin\, Liszt and Rachmanino
 v. His performances of the complete cycles of Beethoven’s 32 piano sonat
 as and 5 concertos as well as Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier have been hig
 hly praised by the critics. He is also a dedicated chamber musician\, he e
 njoys recurrent collaborations with violinists Midori and Kolja Blacher\, 
 cellist Clemens Hagen and members of the Berlin Philharmonic. A new record
 ing with Midori consisting of works by Bloch\, Janacek.\n\n\n\n
