Abaji began playing the guitar at the age of 11, and soon picked up other instruments as well the clarinet, percussions, the oud, the bouzouki and flutes collected during his travels. Later, the synthesis of these instruments combined with a variety of musical passions: Indian Music, Eastern and the blues. His guitar playing with a bow still creates sensation during festivals..
Abaji is a Lebanese-born multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. He grew up in a special sonic melting pot of Greek and Turkish, his family spoke at home, the Arabic he used in public, and the French he used at school. He fled to Paris when conflict erupted in Lebanon in the mid-1970s. Abaji has passion for instruments and he can take the sounds he began to hear as a young man and turn them into uniquely vibrant, uniquely personal music. He composes and plays music for movies and television as well.
