In a programme of Art song, Lied, Kabarett and Café-Concert
Harmonie Deschamps, Pierre Cussac and Benjamin Pras are 3 versatile musicians and artists, influenced by various genres. They have in common a real commitment in creating innovative projects reaching out to all kinds of audiences. Harmonie was trained at the conservatory since childhood, not only in Western Classical music and singing, but also intensively in Drama. Benjamin and Pierre have an extremely rich and varied musical background and both have an incredible experience in improvised music. To create this show they merge all their different skills together, thereby, bringing a lot of flexibility in the composition, production and interpretation of this programme. Through this rather unusual trio, they glorify a very accessible and absolutely beautiful repertoire, resonating with some texts and poems by the most famous authors of that time.
This programme is made up of gems from French Melody, Lied, Kabarett and Café-Concert repertoires, from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They immerse us in the decadent universe and in the realistic and expressionist aesthetics of Paris and Berlin cabarets; portraying the fortune and misfortune of these ladies, muses of their time, both despised and fantasized, icons of these Années folles and the dark times that followed, preparing a century of deep torments and new freedoms.
