Münchinger\, who was principal conductor of the orchestra for over 40 yea

Russell Davies\, who was principal conductor from 1995 to 2006\, re-define
d the orchestra’s artistic priorities to enhance the orchestra’s versa

was recorded live for Sony BMG in a unique series of concerts sponsored by
Daimler Benz\, extending over an eleven-year period ending in 2009. A rec
ording of works by Bartók and Lutosławski appeared on the ECM label in 2
012 conducted by Dennis Russell Davies\, who remains associated with the o
 rchestra as conductor laureate.\n\nSince 2006\, Michael Hofstetter\, the i
nternationally renowned specialist for authentic performing practice\, has
been the orchestra’s principal conductor. Further commissioned works by
composers such as Siegfried Matthus\, Helmut Oehring and MilkoKelemen hav
e been added to the orchestra’s already extensive contemporary repertoir
e during Hofstetter’s chief conductorship. In 2012 the firm Audite issue
d a CD devoted entirely to works by Moritz Eggert with the Stuttgart Chamb
er Orchestra led by Michael Hofstetter.\n\nThe internationally famous viol
ist Wolfram Christ was appointed principal guest conductor at the beginnin
g of the 2009-10 concert season. Following a highly successful South Ameri
can tour in the spring of 2012\, Christ conducted his first recording sess
