is one of the best flute players of his generation\, a shining star in the
flute world’ as Sir. James Galway speaks about Andrea Oliva\, First flu
te soloist of the ‘Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia’
in Rome\, since 2003\, he was born in Modena in 1977\, graduated with the
best grades in only five years at the Istituto Musicale ‘Vecchi-Tonelli
’ of Modena under the guidance of G. Betti\, followed also by C. Montafi
 a\, M. Marasco\, G. Cambursano\, J. C. Gérard\, A. Blau and Sir James Gal
way as the beginning of a wonderful future career. Among the best internat
ional flute competitions he won we must mention the first prize at the Con
corso Internazionale of Kobe (2005\, first Italian winner) and the third p
rize at the Concorso Internazionale ARD in Monaco (2004).\n\nRoberto Pross
eda’s sensational discovery of new works by Mendelssohn made the headlin
es in Europe and led to several Decca releases. His albums have won much a
cclaim in the press\, including the CHOC from Le Monde de la Musique Class
ique\, the Diapason d’Or and Chamber Music CD of the Month in the UK’s
Classic FM magazine. In 2014 Prosseda completed his 10-year project of re
cording Mendelssohn’s complete piano works for Decca in 10 CDs\, also re
leased in a Box-set in 2017 ("Mendelssohn Complete Piano Works").\n\nOther
than Mendelssohn\, of whose piano music he is considered to be one of tod
 ay's leading interpreters\, Prosseda’s performances of Mozart\, Schubert
\, Schumann and Chopin have been particularly praised\, and these composer
s have in fact featured in Prosseda’s recent Decca recordings\, includin
g the complete Mozart Sonatas (2015-18). An active proponent of Italian mu
sic\, Prosseda also recorded the complete piano works of Petrassi and Dall
apiccola and is preparing a new Decca CD with Ennio Morricone’s complete
piano works.\n\nIn September 2011\, Prosseda gave his debut on the pedal
piano\, performing the Concerto for Pedal Piano by Gounod in the world pre
miere in modern times. He has given more than 50 concerts with the pedal p
iano\, rediscovering the original compositions by Robert Schumann\, Franz
Liszt and Charles Valentin Alkan. Several composers\, including Ennio Morr
icone\, have already written new pieces for pedal piano for Roberto Prosse
da\, and a recording of Gounod's four pieces for pedal piano and orchestra
with the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana conducted by Howard Shelley wa
s released on the Hyperion label in 2013.\n\nRoberto Prosseda is also very
active in musical divulgation. He wrote the book “Il Pianoforte” for
Edizioni Curci (2013) and made three documentaries dedicated to Mendelssoh
n\, Chopin and Liszt (Euroarts).\n\nThis film will be available for a few
 weeks.\n\n\n\n
