Luis Trio has settled in Delhi since mid-2016. In the beginning it was about Jazz and latin music, but it slowly evolved into something more actual and groovy. Still connected to the roots, Luis Trio continues to play Jazz standard, but transforms the atmosphere of the song into something more personal. Improvisation and interaction is the main subject of this exchange between the three. They call that Hip Hop Jazz.
Loic Sanlaville is a graduate in Jazz and Sound Engineering. He has performed in France and Switzerland with his band ‘Luis quartet’ comprising drums, upright bass, guitar and tenor saxophone, playing self-made composition and arrangement. Loic’s tryst with India began as a backpacker where he first came to travel and soon discovered the rhythm of Hindustani classical music through Tabla in Benares.
Jayant Manchanda is a bass player,composer and music educator based out of New Delhi. Jayant is a part of Delhi based band ‘Kitchensink’ and also plays in a Jazz trio called ‘J and the Giants’.He has studied music at the Swarnabhoomi academy of music in Chennai and is currently a music instructor at Global Music Institute and One World College of Music.
Reuben Narain started playing drums at the age of 15 in his school band at DPS R. K. Puram. Besides studying with private instructors from an early age, he studied jazz drums formally at the prestigious Drummers Collective in New York and went on to pursue a bachelors in music at the Berklee College Of Music, Boston. Reuben is also an active teacher and has been teaching music theory and drum set at The Performers Collective for the last seven years. He currently holds the designation of Head-Academics and Facilities at the school.
