Arties festival is now in its 12th edition. Its popularity has grown over the years, and it brings the finest young musicians to India.
Pierre Fouchenneret was accepted by the Paris Conservatoire at the early age of 12. He performs around the world along with renowned musicians and is a member of the group Ensemble Contraste, Trio Magellan and Quatuor Raphaël.
Sulliman Altmayer is much in demand as a violinist and a dedicated chamber musician. He created the Trio Con Fuoco in 1998 whilst studying with Paul Boufil. Sulliman has toured the world and played with the most esteemed musicians.
Marc Desmons is principal violist of the Orchestre Philarmonique de Radio-France and has started a career as a conductor. A seasoned traveller, he has discovered magnificent countries and civilisations, in particular Ladakh and Peru.
Romain Descharmes was born in Nancy and studied at the Paris Conservatoire. He was awarded First Prize in the Dublin International Piano Competition in 2006, leading him to perform recitals all over the world.
Gauthier Herrmann started studying cello at the age of eight with Nicole Daihnaut. In 1998, he joined the class of Marcel Bardon in the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris (CNR) where he obtained a first prize in cello in 2000. Gauthier started visiting India in 2001 and in 2008, created Arties Festival which has brought outstanding musicians from Europe to play chamber music in India.
