The Kodály quartet was founded in 1966 by students of the Ferenc Liszt Academy, and named after the Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály since 1972. They are the ambassadors of Hungarian string quartet culture, both nationally and internationally. They have toured the world and have recorded the complete Haydn, Beethoven and Schubert quartets, among others. Their records have met critical applause worldwide and the current members have re-recorded both string quartets by Kodály in 2014.
