The virtuoso concert pianist, Pervez Mody was born in Mumbai, India and lives in Germany and is an exceptionally gifted child and began learning the piano at the age of four with Feroza Dubash Labonne and Farida Dubash in India, teachers who profoundly influenced his musical interpretations and his understanding of western classical music.
Even in his youth, he won a record number of competitions, prizes and distinctions and was in great demand as a concert performer. He then won a scholarship to study at the famous Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Professor Margarita Fyodorova, who introduced him to the works of Alexander Scriabin and predicted in her letter of recommendation: ‘Pervez Mody is a talented young pianist with a bright future ahead.’
After his brillant graduating from Moscow as a ‘Master of fine Arts’ with the highest distinctions in solo performance, chamber music and Lied accompaniment, he undertook further studies, again with a scholarship with Prof. Fanny Solter and Prof. Miguel Proenca at Karlsruhe University of Music and gained the highest distinctions in both his postgraduate studies and his performance diploma. Pervez Mody has participated in master classes with Prof. Sontraud Speidel and Prof. Eduardo Hubert.
He took up invitations to be jury member, at the ‘International Piano Competition’ in Huesca (Spain) and has taught his own master classes in Germany, Argentina and India.
Pervez Mody is frequently invited to travel as an concert pianist in Europe, Asia, North and South America to give solo performances at concerts, festivals and piano recitals, piano concerts with orchestras and appear in a variety of chamber music ensembles and with the violinist Isabel Steinbach as ‘Duo Appassionata’.
He has made several CD recordings for NAXOS, THOROFON, ANTES among others and has performed on Radio and Television. For example Telefision Tajikisthan, BBC Channel 4, Radio Aracadia (Canada) and All India Radio. He has also been broadcast on Südwestrundfunk, Deutschlandradio Kultur, NDR, WDR, BayernKlassik, ORF, Swiss Classic, SFR, MUSIQUE France a.o.
Since June 2012, he belongs to the Steinway Artists. ‘…he is not only a pianist but also a musician and wonderful artist…’ (El Norte, Argentinia).
Pervez Mody plays ‘Scriabin and the Ludwig van Beethoven-Project.’ Now, he records the complete work of Alexander Scriabin under the label THOROFON and the professional musician world is full of praise for his Scriabin Interpretation. Vol. 4 of ‘Pervez Mody plays Scriabin’ was listed for the ‘Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik.’ He also plays the complete piano works of Ludwig van Beethoven in a great concert cycle in Berlin.
Since October 2016, Pervez Mody plays the full piano works of Ludwig van Beethoven on ‘Palais Friedrichsfelde’ in Berlin and also in Zittau.
