Terms and conditions for memberships, privacy, and online payments

The terms and conditions contained herein shall apply to any person (“User”) using the services of The Poona Music Society for making subscriptions or donations online through a payment gateway service from the website of The Poona Music Society (poonamusicsociety.com ) or by direct payment. Each User is therefore deemed to have read and accepted these terms and conditions.

Terms and Conditions for the Poona Music Society memberships

1) Approval from the Managing Committee – All memberships are subject to approval from the Managing Committee of the Society.
Any application for membership whether ordinary Student, Individual, Couple, Life, Patron, has to be accepted by the Managing Committee as per the Memorandum of Association of the Society.
If an application is made online and the amount paid, this amount will be refunded in case the application is rejected, for any reason.

2) Duration
The duration of membership is for the financial year, from 1st April to 31st March for Student, Ordinary Individual, Couple. Life and Patron memberships are valid for life. The renewal of the membership is also subject to the approval of the Managing Committee.

3) Validity
The membership is valid only after payment of the corresponding membership fee and encashment of cheque or online payment.

4) Amount to pay
The amount to pay is the one indicated on the membership application form or online. If a member wishes to change her/his membership category, she/he has to pay the full amount for the new category.

5) Periodicity and renewal
Yearly memberships are valid from the 1st April of the year till the 31st March of the next year. Renewal of membership can be done after the 1st January for the next period.
If a membership is not renewed before the 30th September, the membership is invalidated.

6) Seat booking
The same conditions apply to seat bookings. A seat will be booked only after acceptance of the donation amount for seat bookings and approval by the Managing Committee. Except for Patron members, the seat bookings are valid for one year from the1st April of the year.

7) Entitlements
All donations are exempt under section 80-G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
All membership categories are entitled to receive advance intimation of programmes, over email, unless a specific request is made to receive a hard copy of the newsletter.
Life and Patron members are entitled to advance booking if and when there are ticketed programmes.
All categories of membership are entitled to a 7% discount on purchases at Oceanic Sound & Vision, Off M.G. Road, Pune-411001, on production of membership cards.
Any specific offers made by other organizations to the PMS will be announced from time to time, for specific categories of membership.

Privacy Policy

The Poona Music Society respects and protects the privacy of the individuals that access the information and use the services provided. Individually identifiable information about the User is not willfully disclosed to any third party without first receiving the User’s permission.

This privacy policy applies to personally identifiable information that is collected when the User uses the Poona Music Society’s website or fills-up the membership form. The Poona Music Society does not collect any unique information about the User (such as User’s name, email address, age, gender etc.) except when the User specifically and knowingly provides such information on the Website or on the membership form.

Users can request the deletion of all their data stored in the database of the Society.

However, the Poona Music Society will release specific personal information about the User if required to do so in in order to comply with any valid legal process such as a search warrant, statute, or court order.

Cancellations and Reimbursements

Memberships can be cancelled within one month of application, and then reimbursed with authorisation of the secretaries of the Society.
Donation cannot be cancelled and reimbursed except with the approval of the secretaries of the Society.

General terms and conditions for online-payments

1) Payment gateway disclaimer
The Poona Music Society is providing on its website a payment facility provided by a service provider (payment gateway).
This Service is provided in order to facilitate access to view and pay subscriptions or donations online. The Poona Music Society does not make any representation of any kind, express or implied, as to the operation of the payment gateway other than what is specified on the website for this purpose. By accepting/ agreeing to these terms and conditions, the User expressly agrees that her / his use of the aforesaid online payment service is entirely at her / his risk and responsibility.
The user must ensure that she/he has the proper and lawful payment instruments, and that the computer used for the transaction as well as the internet connection are capable of handling online payments.

2) General disclaimer
The Poona Music Society’s rights, obligations, undertakings shall be subject to the laws in force in India, as well as any directives/ procedures of Government of India, and nothing contained in these terms and conditions shall be in derogation of The Poona Music Society’s right to comply with any law enforcement agencies request or requirements relating to any User’s use of the website or information provided to or gathered by The Poona Music Society with respect to such use.
