Canadian pianist Paul Stewart launched his career in 1981, appearing with the Toronto Symphony in a critically acclaimed performance of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. Since then he has appeared as guest‐soloist with major orchestras worldwide, and in recital throughout Canada, the United States (including Carnegie Hall, New York and the Kennedy Center, Washington), Mexico, South America, the United Kingdom, Europe, South Africa and Asia. He has a special affection for India, where he has played and travelled widely for many years. In 1996, his British début in London’s Wigmore Hall was broadcast live by the BBC, and a performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra was heard throughout Russia and subsequently released on a bestselling CD.
Other recordings include works by Beethoven, Britten, Elgar, Honegger, Liszt, Prokofiev, Ravel, Schubert and Strauss.
