This programme of Baroque music makes a unique appearance in the series Io Suono Italiano.

We may not have heard of these composers, but they were very important in their time. Ferrari was a lute player, libretist and a composer of opera Barbara Strozzi was a famous singer who also composed her own songs. Way ahead of her time in the 17th century, she composed and published her own music without help from the Curch or Patrons.

Sances was a singer and composer, famous during his time, having composed much sacred and secular music. The other two composers, Frescobaldi and Monteverdi enjoy greater popularity, and their music is heard and performed very much today in concert halls and on recordings.

Marina de Liso, Studied in Rovigo and then went on to Milan to study Renaissance and Baroque singing. She has appeared with some of the leading orchestras, conductors and opera festivals across Europe. She is a laureate of the Toti Dal Monte competition and the As.Li.Co. Competition in Milan, two of the most important singing competitions in Italy.

Nicola Dal Maso studied double bass in Venice and from an early age was interested in early music. He has performed with the most accomplished conductors and groups of early music during his career. Currently, he is exploring Romantic double bass repertoire.

Roberto Loreggian studied harpsichord under Ton Koopman in the Hague. Having great experience as a harpsichordist all over Europe, he has made numberous prize winning recordings. An anthology of keyboard music of Frescobaldi, Gabrieli, Handel and Concertos of Galuppi are amongst his discography.

This film will be available for a few weeks.
