Sandeep Bhagwati born in 1963 is an internationally renowned German experimental composer born in Mumbai, living in Berlin and working as a Canada Research Chair in Inter-X Art at Concordia University Montréal. He has a long history in musical encounters: From 2000-2008, he has led the Rasalila Project, where several high-profile Indian musicians (Dr. Ashok Ranade, Shubha Mudgal, Uday Bhawalkar, Dhruba Ghosh, Aneesh Pradhan) composed experimental art music for the Ensemble Modern Frankfurt – a project that was highly successful, traveling to some of the most renowned concert halls and festivals in Europe. Bhagwati has also extensively worked with Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese musicians, and is currently artistic director of two intertwined ensemble projects in Montréal (Ensemble Constantinople) and Berlin (Ensemble Extrakte).
